Gone are the days where you needed to jump on a fishing boat to get directly to the Gilis! Now there are lots of different reliable fast boats running from Bali to Gili Air. If however you are on a budget then check prices and book your ticket with one of the budget boat operators.
Fast boat to Gili Air the total journey times vary from between 2 - 4 hours depending on which boat you are using and where in Bali you are departing from. Pickup from your hotel in the morning for departures to Gili Air and a return service to your hotel in Bali are standard in the better fast boat companies. Please note: fast boats running between Bali and Gili Air usually only depart from Bali until noon. Late afternoon departures from Gili Air are also canceled on occasion when the Lombok Strait develops unsafe conditions on windy days.
There are two main departure terminals in Bali: Serangan Harbor (near Sanur and close to the International airport) and Padang Bai (1 1/2 hr drive from Sanur). Several fast boat companies go directly to the harbor in Gili Air, others stop in Gili Trawangan and Lombok.
